2024 Olympia Symphony Young Artists Competition

We believe in empowering young artists to develop their own unique, musical voice by providing a professional concert experience for emerging talents. Unlike most music competitions for youth, our Young Artists Competition does not require the applicants to adhere to a list of solo pieces, but gives them the opportunity to choose, so they may discover their own style and personality as they grow without limitations.

Audition piece must be performed with a pianist. All instruments, voice, and small ensembles are eligible. Previous first place winners are ineligible to compete in a category they previously won.

Categories:

• 13 and under
• 14 and over (applicant must have not yet graduated from high school or running start at the time of the competition)

This is NOT a public event. Applicants may attend the competition with their pianist and up to two guardians. Audio/video recording is not permitted.

Winners will be featured as soloists with the Olympia Symphony Orchestra on future dates to be announced. Final selection of music for performances will be at the discretion of the Olympia Symphony Orchestra. Orchestral accompaniment must be available for purchase or rental.

At the judges' discretion, a winner may not be selected for a given category and/or multiple winners may be selected for a given category.

All winners will receive a group masterclass coaching session with Olympia Symphony Music Director Alexandra Arrieche. All competition participants are invited to attend the masterclass. Date and location of the masterclass to be determined.

Competition registration fee of $40 is not refundable.

There are no geographic restrictions for applicants. However, applicants must provide their own travel and accomodations for the competition and performance(s).
